Don't he look cute  Cheesy  That's my daddy on her knee!

Thinking about it, it must have been taken in 1910, he was born 23rd July, 1910 so he's not old enough for it to be 1911, maybe a Christmas picture?

Hi Mary,
I'd love to have a go at this, but I think it needs to be re-scanned, like arnie suggests...if you can get a hold of the original, that is.
I reckon her face might just be salvageable!  If the scanner can be set to scan the photo "as-is", rather than trying to enhance it (which some of them do by default) we might get more detail.
Anyway, meantime I'll make an attempt at the copy we have!!  Cheesy

Thanks to everybody who has had a go, there are some lovely ones there, you've all done exceptionally well considering what a dreadful task I set  Tongue Tongue

I'll get in touch with my relative and try and borrow the original again and see if I can learn a new scanning process and do a better job.

Best wishes

Wow, what can I say, that is just stupendous, beats the others hollow.  I can see why each person prefers something different, I like black and white but many of the colourisings are wonderful but this sepia is something else entirely.  I love it Meldrew, I have a new frame and it's going in it.

Thank you so much

If you really want to print it you should have a  high res copy, I can e-mail you one if you PM me with an address.

Oh, I've cleaned it up a bit more.

Oh doesn't she look beautiful? Thank you so much, I'm really impressed with what you've done.  And I still think the colour looks the best out of them all, it seems to suit the style so well.

Bless you

The final opus -
No washing done, no ironing  done, no gardening done etc. But lots of pictures done, maybe my priorities are wrong!

More thanks to you Meldrew, although the sepia has captured my heart I love it more than the others.

I'm grateful to everyone who has contributed to my nan's photo, some lovely efforts, I just can't believe what you've done with such a bad picture.  I want to say, don't you just meet some lovely people on Rootschat who go out of their way to do something for you.  You are fantastic all of you, lots of give and take out there and I'm glad I can give my bit back in other ways doing look ups where possible.
