Hi Mark, and welcome.
I had a look at the 1841 Cowfold Census twice last night but couldn't find James and family. Judging by the ages of the children in 1851, one would expect to find them there. Anyway, I'll have a look at Bolney, Horsham and Slaugham later.

Sorry Dimps, should have gone to 'Specsavers' (Only joking, honest ) Chris. Funnily enough, I have an appointment at the above-advertised establishment on Tuesday morning.
How could I have missed them? I peered and peered at a family on Schedule 21, Page 9, though, that could be headed by Chas Tullett - does it look like Tullett to you? Might be useful for Mark.

Thanks again, all - There were several branches of the Tullett families around in this part (and others) of Sussex during this time. Will check if they're part of mine & add in. By the way it's actually pronounced Sluffum. It's a lovely area if anyone's around there for a visit. Mark

Have been trying to find Elizabeth & family pre marriage to Alfred. On FreeMBD found Elizabeth Rich BURTON in Brighton (b1859) & on IGI records: Elizabeth BURTON christened 27.12. 1863 parents Thomas / Ann
Can anyone tell me if these re the same person and/or if they are MY Elizabeth?
Thanks, MArk

Thanks Suey,
Will apply for birth cert (do you know if I can do this direct to Brighton? - if not I'll go my usual route).
No Idea how she came by middle name, but do know that there is a tradition in the family for giving mother's maiden surname as a second name.
Cheers,
Mark

Am thinking that Wm here is James father who I've been looking for - how do I get more details for him? Thanks

Having checked I think this is the William (b 1875)married (1809) to Ann Constable in Slaugham, but cannot find James as their son.
However this william is the son of William Tullett & Catherine Peters, who appear to have had another son William, baptised 23.9.1773 in Slaugham. Can't find any more for him, unless he's the william that married Phoebe Hills, but then why were there 2 williams in one family.
Any clarification would be excellent, as I've just about had it with James & William Tulletts yet CANT let the family stop there!!
