Sarah Walters - any info please
« on: Tuesday 20 September 05 14:34 BST (UK) »

I am trying to get some more information on a Sarah Barton nee Walters. I know that she had a child, called Ann Barton in Feb 1839, born in Bradwell, Bucks. I also know that she had a husband called Jonathon Barton. I think that she may have died not long after having Ann (found a death entry for Sep 1840 that could be her), as the child was living with relatives when she was 11 years old.

But if anyone else could provide me with any other information it would be a great help ie, when she married, any other children, etc etc.

many thanks.

Hi Mandi

Just had a quick look in the 1841 census for Bradwell - quite a small place with only 81 families. Found the following:

Folio H 107/56/5 page 1
Ann Barton age 2 living with Thomas & Ann Walters (or Watters).
No other Barton found in Bradwell.

Hope this is of interest.

Regards

Similarly, there are no other BARTONs born Bradwell on the 1861 census.

Do you have the details for Ann in 1861?  Can post if not.

kind regards, Arranroots  Wink

Hi

No i don't have any details for Ann Barton.

I think that Ann Bartons mother  - Sarah Barton, nee Walters - died not long after she was born and she was brought up by other family members, which is possibly where Thomas Walters (who she was living with in 1841) and Samuel Walters (who she was living with in 1851) come in to it. I am presuming that they were her fathers brothers???.

What i would really like to find out is who Sarah Walters parents were?

Can anyone do this for me.

kind regards

Mandi

Maybe you can identify likely parents in the early censuses, but the death cert might help?

Hi Mandi

Looking at the ages of the family Ann was with in 1841 it seems likely that Ann Walters was Sarah's mother:

Full list is:
Thomas Walters aged 60
Ann Walters aged 40
Grace Walters age 10
Mary Walters aged 2
Ann Barton aged 2
