Hi Guys,

sorry for the mistake of my ways, I'm new to Genealogy, anyway.

I am looking for info on this guy who is not exactly sure about his age on various documents we have so far-

Alexander Allan b.1/3/1887 in Aberdeen to Robert Allan & Elsie Gordon Allan
he appeared on the 1901 Census then he disappear........... oh no he didn't
He had emigrated to the States, on SS WESTERULAND sailing from Liverpool 3/07/1907
1909 SS Haverford from LIVERPOOL 9/06/1909
On the same passenger manifest is a Agnes Bowie age 27 from newmills later to be his wife. It turns out they married and had a kid Robert 25/06/1913 and then returned to UK Join the R.A.M.C. to fight during the First War

We know he returned on the SS Cameronia from Glasgow 13/08/1921 they were going to join a Harry Bowie at 8 Waverly Park, Paytchogue L.I

I have no more on him but believe that the family split around 1927
On the 1921 passenger list we know he was blind in one eye.

Any help would be gratefully received,

Yours Swally

Love to help, I should say, we would all love to help Grin

but, are you trying to go backwards, or are you simply wondering if he returned to Aberdeen, after 1929?

If so there may be a death index if he died before 1956.

regards,

Kenjo,

There is no death for him on Scotlands people.  It would be fair to say he died in the States. I am in contact with his grandson who knows very little indeed of his Granda.

Thanks,

I have his parents and also his grandparents I am looking for info on him after 1920 odd.
i.e. When and where did he die (America)
His marriage and possible divorce information
The birth of his son Robert
      The marriage of his son

      The death of his son
The death of his son's wife

All these would have occured in America

Hi Swally,

Why don't you check out the "US Lookups" board.  Maybe someone can help you find the information you are looking for.

Hi,
You could try the IGI, US Death Index
there doesn't seem to be one that is exactly right, but, maybe, one of them is still your guy. just click on the link below.
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=ssdi/search_ssdi.asp&clear_form=true
and maybe Liverpool Annie, who is a absolute wizz, on all things American, could lookup the 1930 census.

regards.

Kenjo,

thanks for the reply,

We know that Alexander wasn't too sure of his year of birth, neither were a lot of people.  He believed that he was born in 1885 when in fact it was 1887 as we have it on his passenger list to America and also when he returned to U.K and also his Medal Index Card.

We have searched IGI and believe he died in 1965 ( as there is only one Alexander Allan with the Social Security Number that matches, but without access to the document and verifing his parents we cannot be 100% sure.

My cousin and I always check for 2 or more pieces of corroberating evidence before we accept it as the truth.

If you can be of any further help please drop me a line.

Best Regards,
