Dannevirke success! (Completed)
« on: Wednesday 21 September 05 11:58 BST (UK) »

Try the local branch of the NZ Society of Genealogists whose address you'll find listed here;
http://www.genealogy.org.nz/branch/lac.html

They should be able to help you hunt for them.

Which I did ... and serendipity pounced!! Thank you Riley. Cheesy

I ended up discovering a distant cousin from the other side of my family (not the side I was searching for), who has helped me enormously.  He found this marriage index:

1910 Folio No 8220
William Hanna married Margaret Roulston

... and this Pahiatua electoral roll entry:

1911
William Hanna, farmer, Ngapaeruru
Margaret Hanna, married, Ngapaeruru

Would this be enough information to find the ITM notice?

Best wishes
Koromo

Hi Koromo,

Sorry, I couldn't find the marriage. I did think I was being over-optimistic. Unless you know the place of marriage as well, searching ITM's are like the proverbial haystack.

I did discover that the marriage folio number, in this case 8220, is post-facto (pig-latin, sorry) linked to the ITM notice as a cross-reference. The problem, however, is that there is no consecutive pattern in the ITM ledgers.

Your best bet is to purchase their marriage certificate and then the ITM.

Regards, riley

Hi Riley

Thanks for looking. I have the form filled out, and the letter written about my father's dual birth registrations, ready for posting. I'll let you know how I get on. Smiley

Cheers
