Kath,
It's a big area. I have the 1841 census cds Durham, could you tell me the full name and age of the son found in 1851 and his address, I'll try to find him and then hopefully she may live nearby

Nothing on durhamrecordsonline in 1841 or 1851 censuses for George & Elizabeth, will look in cds later on, but they may not have left Scotland til after 1851

Hi Kath
The dreaded question, I say this because the handwriting on this page is not very good at all, but this is my best shot. The address looks like Grisburn Street if it helps it is next to Melbourn Place, George is an iron monger, Johanna is a ###fs maker and Elizabeth could be a Grocer but that really is a guess.
I am either not very good at reading handwriting or itsthe same for everyone, I could always send you a copy if you would like to have a go for yourself, fresh pair of eyes.
Best Wishes
John

Johanna is a dress maker - its that funny way of writing double s.
I would agree the address looks like Grisburn Street and it certainly looks like Elizabeth was a Grocer.

Oops,
Sorry about that Kath I forgot to mention that Elizabeth is down as a widow, and George is her son, I guess he had to start work at a very early age to pay his way after his fathers death, I suppose it makes you realize how lucky we are nowadays.
Best Wishes
John
