There are more to come, Matthew, but I have an elderly neighbour just knocked on the door, very upset. May I post them for you tomorrow? Otherwise perhaps someone else can find them and post them.

Matthew, today I spent the afternoon checking censuses for your Peels. I went back to 1851 for Jonathon and Mary with daughter Ruth, and discovered that this was the family in 1851…..
HO107/ 2433/ 424/ 15
High Caldbeck, Cumberland, England Greenrigg Jonathan Peel 30 Head Farm Labourer Mary Peel 29 Wife Ruth Peel 7 Daur Elisabeth Peel 4 Daur James Hunter Peel 2 Son John Peel 3 Mo Son All given as born Caldbeck

I also found that the Ruth I gave you for 1861 was not the one you wanted, because I found her back in 1851 too……..
HO107/ 2433/ 448/ 17 Caldbeck Haltcliff, Cumberland, England
Elizabeth Hunter 67 Head Widow farmer of 35 acres born Caldbeck James Hunter 33 Son farmer’s son born Caldbeck Joseph Hunter 20 Son Farmer’s son born Caldbeck Ruth Peel 7 Grandaughter born Caldbeck Jane Pig 21 Farm Servant born Kirklinton, Cumberland, England Thomas Mounsey 66 Lodger Tailer – master born Caldbeck Joseph Hodgson 66 Lodger Joiner born Carlisle, Cumberland, England Elizabeth Peel 5 Grandaughter born Caldbeck
So please ignore the previous information on Ruth for 1861.

I then went looking for all the members of the 1851 Jonathon and Mary Peel family in 1861…..
I still think the Jonathon and Mary in Rosley, Wigton in 1861 is correct.
I found this James of the right age to be James Hunter Peel. He is the only James born in the whole of Cumberland who is around the right age…..

The only Elizabeth Peel born in Cumberland that fits the Elizabeth of the 1851 family as follows. However she is given as being born in Greenrigg.
RG9/ 3930/ 65/ 12 Caldbeck Low, Cumberland, England.
William Ivinson 34 Head Woolen Manufacturer born Caldbeck Cumberland, England Maria Ivinson 24 Wife born Caldbeck Cumberland, England John Ivinson 9 Mo Son born Caldbeck Cumberland, England Joseph Greaves 18 Servant Woolen Weaver born Cockermouth, Cumberland, England Elizabeth Peel 15 Servanr – domestic born Greenrigg, Cumberland, England
Interestingly, the only John Peel born c 1851 of the 1851 family that I could find for 1862 was the John living with Askew peel and his wife, and listed as their grandson!
That brings us back to Ruth…..and the only Ruth Peel listed as born in the whole of Cumberland for that time is the one that I have discounted.
I have tried a variety of spellings and also searched just for Ruth born Caldbeck 1844 + or – 5 years.

Hi Dee, thankyou so, so much for your amazing work. Do they give medals to genealogists? Bless you, and thanks for the info on Ruth, I found her maiden name...Simpson, daughter of Richard and Ann ms unknown, which takes me back to the 1750's!, and they are in Caldbeck even then!
Thanks again, youre a star!
