1841 Hitchin look up please- KEDDIE

Hi there, could someone please look in the 1841 census of Hitchin for a Phillip Keddie (poss Kiddie) b. 1812 Glasgow.  He may have a wife Maria who was born in the county c. 1813)

Very little of the 1841 census has been indexed, this make searching within major towns very difficult and time consuming.  There is a partial online pay to view index at The Genealogist.

I have trawled the 1841 for Hitchin but regret there was no trace of Keddie or variants.

Hi Alison

It looks as though he was in Northamptonshire in 1841.  The 41 does not record relationships within households, marital status or exact place of birth.  It only indicates whether or not someone was born in the census county.  Adult ages are often rounded down to nearest 5.
