I am looking for information on the Benson family that was living in Hexham, Northumberland. There were several Bensons with the middle name of Elliott who were born or married in Hexham from the 1860's to 1890's according to the registers. I am tracing a line of Bensons who always used the name of Elliott for their daughters and am trying to find a connection between the families.They seemed to have lived in several counties in England including Lancashire and Kent.
The index gives births registered for a George Elliott Benson in September quarter 1861, a marriage for Elizabeth Elliott Benson in June quarter 1868, and a birth for Mary Elliott Benson in December quarter 1892--all in Hexham District. There was also a Thomas Elliott Benson, birth registered in Dec. quarter 1889 in Bellingham District.
