Hi,probably not the Lillian you are looking for but the names could fit.
1901 census
Resident Salford Lancashire.
John Marks head b.1870 Churchstanton,Devon
Minnie wife b.1869 Swindon,Somerset
Florence dau b. 1894
Mary dau. b.1896
Henry son b.1898
Lillian dau B about 1900 age 1
All children born in Salford.
Also Minnie Elizabeth Marks died December 1901

Best way to verify if this is the correct family is to send for the marriage certificate to see father's name.

Ladies,
Thank you for you advice and suggestions. I have had a discussion with my Dad who suddenly remembered that he has his parents marriage certificate!!
This shows that Lillians father was indeed John Marks, and the marriage was witnessed by Florence Marks and John Robert Sherratt.
The brides address /place of residence was given as 127 Blake Street, Mansfield, Woodhouse.
I have some info on John Rob Sherratt as per another of my postings but am still at a loss as to Lillian's family. My Dad thinks that she came from the Derby area, but at this stage I am still not discounting your info regarding the potential link to Salford and Devon.
Thanks for your help so far.
Any other info on Lillian's family and background would be most welcome.

Your dad doesn't happen to have Lilian's birth cert tucked away somewhere, does he? 
Does the age on marriage cert correspond with 1899 and does it give dad'soccupation?
There is a good chance that this is the correct family - no reason why they shouldn't move around but we do need to prove it

If you could confirm age on marriage cert I will look on 1837 for all births of Lilian Marks within that period. There shouldn't be too many.And John's occupation - this is important as the chap on 1901 worked on Railways and could be a clue.
