I am also researching the Mott family in Manchester and Salford. Earliest definite is James Mott born 1837 to James and Sarah (Haughton). There is a single name thread going on about the name which you might want to look at.

Hi,

I have a Jane MOTT born Wootton 1837. She married an Emmanuel GREEN of Sunningwell. They married in 1856 in Wootton and were there for the 1861 census, by 1871 however, they had moved to Sunningwell, and Jane died there in 1910.

Janes parents were Richard MOTT and Ann ENOCK married in Wootton 1818.  Richard was the son of William MOTT and Ann ?

I have names and dates of siblings from the Parish Records. What MOTT names are you researching?
