Hi,
hoping someone with a better understanding of US geography than me, can point me in the right direction.
Two brothers of my g grandfather emigrated and settled in Elyria City, Lorain County Ohio. I have them in censuses 1910 -1930. On the 1920 census it tells me that both were naturalized in 1918.
Do you know where I could find these records?
Thanks, Heather

Thanks Annie
You know I think I've spent hours following links and still not sure.
The records after 1917 seem to be with the Federal District courts, and from the map I'm guessing Lorain county must be in the Northern district, but I can't see an email contact of any kind that might confirm it or anything to tell me how to apply.
Looks like I'll have to resort to good old snail mail!

Thanks for the link Annie. Hadn't seen that - so another one to explore!
Meldrew, that's very kind of you. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to ask your contact if she has any ideas? I don't want to put anyone to trouble and I certainly don't mind paying, I just don't seem to be able to suss how to get at the records!

Hi!
The people I'm looking for are brothers born in Beeston Nottinghamshire, William Willmott b. 02/12/1865 and James Willmott c. 1873
Though in the US censuses they were using the spelling Wilmot.

Thanks Susan. I've just woken up (a bit of insomnia going on here!), so I'll take a good look at that when I come round

How wonderful - thanks very much!!
yes that's them and you've given me married names for two of the daughters as well
I also didn't know George ended up in Australia. Last I saw him he was at home in 1901 England.
What a fantastic find - can't thank you enough. Heather
