BELL & HIGGINSON somewhere in Cheshire
« on: Saturday 24 September 05 03:35 BST (UK) »

My ancestor Peter BELL was born in Cheshire circa 1785. In 1831 his wife Elizabeth (nee HIGGINSON) and children sailed from England to NY

The family settled in Sullivan NY (Peter was already there) for a few years then in 1835 the family left NY and went to Arkell Ontario Canada. (near Guelph)

The children of Peter & Elizabeth BELL were all born in Cheshire England. They were:

Ann Bell   1808

Phoebe Bell   1815 - 1850   md John Petty   1810 - 1880

Mary Bell   1819 - 1885   md David King   1817 - 1881

Peter Bell   1823-   md Anne Cowan

Joseph Bell   1828 - 1908   md Charlotte Dory   1838 -

I am hoping to find a connection to this family in hopes of finding Peter's parents. Peter may have had a brother Thomas Thomas Bell (b 1783 d 1848 )

Fingers crossed!

Hi

Unfortunatly I cannot give you the name of the father for certain, but I can tell you that your Peter Bell married Betty Higginson at Lower Peover St Oswalds on the 8/Oct/1809.

Also marrying at the same church

John Bell/Ann Longton 2/Oct/1802

Thomas Bell/Betty Johnson 7/Feb/1807

Lower Peover is in the parish of Great Budworth Cheshire. This link will give you information re that parish.

http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/chs/lowerpeover.html

You should apply to the Cheshire records office for a search of that parish for the baptism of Peter,  the email address is in this link.

 Hope this helps
