Hi
Looking for any info on my Poulton family most of whom came from Shoreditch.
According to the IGI John Poulton married Elizabeth Powell St Leonard's Shoreditch 1831.
In the 1851 census they are living at 25 Craven Street with children
Charles 20
William 14
Herbert 12
Alfred 10
John 08
Joseph 06
SAMUEL 02
Frederick 6 months

In 1871 they are at
216 Hoxton Street
John Poulton 62    Painter (unemployed)
Elizabeth    62
Joseph 26    Labourer (unemployed)
SAMUEL 24    Painter (unemployed)
George 18    Porter (unemployed)

In 1877 Samuel is married to Elizabeth Coulson, I have details from the 1881 & 1891 censuses. Elizabeth died in 1894.

Samuel married Sarah Amelia Miall (nee Davis) a widow in 1896.
They had a son Charles Herbert Poulton born Haggerston in Dec 1899,
he was my grandfather.
Samuel Poulton died in 1900

My grandfather had half-siblings from both previous marriages,

Sarah Amelia later married John Henry Cordell.

Some of this family have proved very elusive.

Hi Chris,
No sign of them yet on the 1861 census that has been indexed. Several Poulton's but wrong names. You may have to wait a while unless you have an address for that year.

Can get names for you if you think they tie in

Yes if they're in the Shoreditch area I'm interested, I have a list of names from the IGI for St Leonards Shoreditch, some of which I'm sure will tie in eventually.

Elizabeth, 41, mantle maker looks like 6 Charriot? St, St Giles, Cripplegate and Elizabeth 27 same occupation, etc both born Cripplegate.
