i am trying to locate the parents of elizabeth witte my mother,she was born in sunderland in 1918 and i think her fathers name was john william witte. in 1950 i was living with my grandmother at 17 gray rd,but i do not remember her christian name                bazaf

To be really sure of finding the correct family you need to get hold of your mother's birth certificate which will give her father's name and her mother's maiden name. Are you sure she was born in 1918. I have checked on 1837 online for this where she should be registered and cannot find it in 1918.

Has anyone in the family got the certificate anywhere or can verify her birth year?

sorry we did not have any certificates, but we do know her birthday was 19 th august and she was 85 when she died in 2003,and she was definatly born in sunderland,perhaps it was a year earlier or later thanks .    BAZA

Would anybody have a cencus for 17 Gray rd, Hendon sunderland 1951 at this time myself Eileen , my mother Elizabeth and my grandmother who's surnames were Witte,were living in this tenement house .This would perhaps  give us a lead to my grandmothers christian name , and then to her husband.i Was 6 years old at the time.     BAZA
