If you are checking 1901 census remember at that time Bournemouth was in Hampshire!

Have you found them on any earlier census?  Do you know where/when they married?

Where Frizzell House now stands, at the end of the Wessex Way in Westbourne, there stood the County Gates, where at one time Hampshire and Dorset divided.

I remember when I was in school that Bournemouth was in Hampshire.

Seems so long ago now...

Guess what?

I had my suspicions, but the firm of Turners, solicitors, founded by J M B Turner is still in business and operating in Bournemouth.

But Frizzell House is to the West side of Bournemouth and is nowhere near Southcote Road, which is to the East Side of Bournemouth.

Correct, so in 1901 Bournemouth was in Hampshire.
Actually all of Bournemouth was in Hampshire until the boundary changed, even Westbourne was, since County Gates is on the western edge of Westbourne.
And Branksome was in Dorset., the boundary being I believe "The Avenue" which runs south from County Gates to Branksome Chine.
Coo - takes me back a few years to when The Avenue was lined with big old victorian houses and had lovely rhodedendron bushes on either side.  In the 70's the houses started to come down and be replaced by flats, and the bushes got trimmed back to widen the road.
