Barrow upon soar cemetery

I  was given this great site (from great help) which helped me find some of my ancestors who are buried in the Barrow upon cemetery . I just thought I would share also.

www.leicestershirevillages.com  then click on barrow upon soar, and then on the right hand side  click on village history  then on family history and scroll down and you will see the cemetery registar of burials from 21st april to  the year 2004. Alot of names from a-z , ;DGood luck Grin

I just found that one daughter of EMMA  SWAIN (DARBY)  married a JONAH BARBY  abt 1888 in barrow upon soar. Her name was FLORENCE  SARAH SWAIN b abt  1870 barrow upon soar.

Could there be any  connections between us?

Possibly a connection.  I'm concentrating more on my dad's side at the moment and the Barby's are my mums side.  But saying that there are a lot of them.  It turns out the my nan used to have a detailed copy of this tree already done years ago - i'm currently trying to locate it.  My mum however seems to remember seeing it and thinks that there was a Jonah and many other wierd names.  I know there were some Barby's living in Cornwall or Dorset who were farmers.  will get back to you.

hello again it seems that my nan's father was an Andrew Barby and he was born in Barrow on Soar, his parents were a Jonah Barby and his wife Florence.  At some point Andrew moved to Hull and I belive his wife was named Maud and had 10 children of which my nan was (i think) 8th and was born in 1929. I guess that would make them my maternal great-great-grandparents if they are the right people although it sounds plausible to me what do you think?

Hi, yes it seems to look right. this is what i have found out.

Florence sarah swain married Jonah henry barby abt 1888 loughborough leics.Jonah was born abt 1870 in wicken  northampton.

From an online copy of Barrowvoice 2002 I found an e-mail address for a "Barrow family history soceity".  In its loosest terms.  There is a small fee, but they have transcribed all the parish registers to Excel and will do a search for you.  Apparently it was a year 2000 project for the church
