1891 Titus Brown
« on: Monday 26 September 05 13:30 BST (UK) »

Hi

Trying to find whereabouts of Titus Brown and family in 1891 and 1901

Titus Brown B 1831 Calverley Farmer
Martha B 1831 Derbyshire
Hannah B 1859 Calverley
William B 1862 Calverley
John M B 1863 Calverley
Agnes B 1865 Calverley
Benjamin B 1870 Calverley

I have traced them from 1861 to 1881 where they ended up  in Richards Castle, Shropshire.

Benjamin appears in 1901 in Richards castle, married with daughter.

I think Titus died 1899 in Leominster and Martha 1901 in Leominster.

Two older children, Joseph and Charles, I have found in 1891 and 1901.

So where were Titus and family in 1891 and 1901?

Thanks
Keith

Hi Keith

I've looked every way I can think of for Titus, 1891 and 1901 in England and Wales - they were living in the Marches and could easily have moved over the border - but with no luck at all.

Best of luck with them - I've got some missing relatives too, and it's very frustrating!

Well done Jan!

So they were definitely around for the two censuses - always feel there are too many 's's in that word when I type it!

Wonder where they were hiding?

In 1901 Martha would have been a widow - perhaps she was visiting relatives somewhere, or just hiding Cheesy

Hi All

Thanks for looking.

It does seem they were in hiding!

What do you think the chances are of Titus death certificate having an address? Mind you that would be another £7. Is it worth it!

Can these certificates be seen any where without having to pay? Although travelling from where I am (North Shropshire) to Leominster would cost more than £7.

Thanks again for looking

Keith

According to the GRO, the following details can be found on a death certificate:

name, date and place of death

date and place of birth (please note: before 1969 a certificate only showed the age of the deceased)

occupation and usual address

cause of death

the person who gave the information for the death registration

You can order the certificates online (so need for any travelling) from the GRO http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/
