My GF was  William Barrow Clark(e) b 05 apr 1900

According to the 1901 census he and his mother  Mary A Clarke and sister Ellen V were in the household of William Barrow b Woodditton 1854, and William Barrow's granddaughter Ethel V.

Can anyone shed any further light?

I take it you already have the the 1901 census Smiley Doesn't it tell you the relationship of your grandfather to William Barrow?

No.  There is no relationship shown on the census between William Barrow, and Mary Clarke, Ellen V Clarke, or William Barrow Clarke

The only relation was of Ethel V Barrow b 1896 and that was noted as Granddaughter of William Barrow.

My mother said that my she was not sure of the connection between William Barrow and her father William Barrow Clarke.
