Missing Children
« on: Saturday 02 October 04 19:14 UTC (UK) »

Hi All

Does anyone have a record of a Ruth Josselyn b 1838 in I believe Tattingstone, Suffolk. Last sighting was 1841 in Tattingstone Union House (work house) with her brother Robert b 1832 but not the parents James & Lydia Joslyn. Were children shipped out for adoption or sent to work in other parts of the country?

Thanks

Andrew Joslyn

Hi Andrew

I am doing a spot of housekeeping when I came upon this request.

Have you managed to find Ruth in later censuses?

Hi Andrew

Have you tried the Suffolk Record Office?  I believe that the minute books for Samford Union survive - 1764 -1930.  These can often yield very useful biographical information.
