Hiya, 
I would love to have my own website on Rootschat, can it be either for my family tree, or i have a very big list of Aston/Birmingham and Coventry marriages and baptisms that i would love to help others with.
Is there a complete idiots guide of how to do it, because i will need it,  lol, and do i qualify ?

how about a combination of both, your personal family history, and the data you used to find it ?
Have a look on this board, look at the links in the
Topic: TUTORIAL: Help with building your website.

this will give you an idea of what's possible.
And, by the way, you will probably notice how many of these RootsChatters started their first posts
with "I am a complete computer idiot" or variations thereof, and now have their websites up and running !
So you will manage too !!
With all the help going here, how can you not succeed

Many many thanks for the advice, it's very much appreciated.
Yesterday i managed to choose the name i wanted and confirm registration, butttttttttt , what happens now, on the email i recieved it says......you have one hour to activate your account, if after one hour we have still not recieved confirmation, your registration will be cancelled, so
helppppppp, nothing happened, what do i do next , sat here scratching my head

I had that problem (but in my case I wasn't quick enough in responding!) but Trystan simply set up another page for me later.
While you're waiting for the space, why not start designing the pages?

I am really chuffed, i have my own little webspace which is half way finished and it's a big thankyou to Rootschat and Berlin Bob
oh and i musn't forget my 13 year old daughter who has been patiently guiding me and correcting all my mistakes. (blimey she is one clever child, lol

pps: next step is to change the links for the images to point to your web-site ..
At the moment they are pointing to a folder on your computer, which is why they aren't showing.
But, bit by bit .....

It s really quite simple (said he with a devilish grin and fiendish cackle):
According to the source text, all the images are being accessed with
<img src="C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\karens\Rootschet website\websiteHeader.jpg">
Create a folder C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\karens\Rootschet website\images
and copy all your images into this folder
For every <img src="..... ask your daughter to change all the C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\karens\Rootschet website\ to ./images/
in every file.
Then re-upload the whole contents of C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\karens\Rootschet
website\ including the images folder.
A couple of tips:
- make sure all names are lower case, without any blanks in them (replace any blanks with an underline)
- open your browser (offline) and drag your index.htm into it. You can then check out the wesite offline, till you get it right
Then upload all your files, including the image folder to your site
Another tip: if your daughter has homework, tell her to do that first, or she will get so engrossed here, that she'll get bad marks at school, and I am not going to be held responsible for that !!
