Its just shorthand for 'what you see is what you get'  - in other words, the package designs websites without having to use programming or code.

If its part of your FTP, it may mean you can edit things visually before they are uploaded (I think Smiley)

Three Cheers for the "Brummy Team" !!!!

I've been helping out via PM so I know some of what they've been through.

Who's the "Brummy Team" ??

Well that is Brummygirl's "VERY helpful, VERY beautiful, BEST in the world" daughter, and
the  "bestest daughter's" frazzled Mom !!

They've both worked very, very hard to get this site up and running
and deserve all the medals we can give them !

Well done, the "Brummy Team" !!

So now it is all done, except that they will probably still add a bit here, and add a bit there,
and maybe a family history page, and ... and ... and, for ever and ever  Grin Grin

Helpppppp please,

I am going insane, with trying. Huh

Never before have i made a website, but with my daughters help and Berlin Bob we managed it, and i remember these words well from Bob, that i might want to change a bit here and a bit there, and he was right i do, lol
I decided i'd like to have another go at changing what it looks like and so far i have i think managed to change one page "Aston Marriages" to the way i want and i hope i'v done it right, lol.
But what i just cannot do is on this page i have two errrrrrmmmm  boxes,"cells" one with the lists of marriages which is just right i think and next to it on the left is a long box which i was hoping to divide up into 3 smaller boxes to put little notes etc in it, but try as i might i just cannot do it, and i am going insane with trying.

Please some one tell me what to do,what have i done wrong, i have printed a table sampler off the net to help, and spent nearly 5 hours tryig it out, but i just cannot do it.
Can someone type me the right html code please.
many many thanks

Hi Brummygirl,

try this code:

1st.column:
<td rowspan= 1 table width =27%>< b><H4><center>
Please do come back now and again as I will be updating
these pages.......</TD>

then the second column:

<TD rowspan=3>
<center><P>
< u>< b><font face="Old English Text MT">
<H1>< i>Aston Marriages A to Z </center></H1></font>
<P></P><I></center>
....
</P>
Nathaniel YATES..To..Sarah Ann JAMES... 1861*</I>
</P>
</TD>
</tr></td></table>

then your second and third lines:
<tr><td> 2nd. line - some more info </td></tr>
<tr><td> 3rd. line - and some more info </td></tr>
</td></table>

It might help to think of it as three lines, but with the 2nd. column spreading over all three lines

The construction: <tr><td> 3rd. line - and some more info </td></tr> is one "line", so if you want to make it four (or more) seperate lines, then just add more "lines" under
<tr><td> 3rd. line - and some more info </td></tr>
and change the rowspan to the number of lines.

Hope this is clear enough,
Bob

ps.  I have added a space between a < u  and a < b, that was just to stop it performing the underline and bold, here in the message. Leave the space off in your code.

Hi Brummygirl,

glad it worked !!

now try this:

for the left hand "lines" or boxes:

instead of <td>, use
<td valign=top> or
<td valign=center> or
<td valign=bottom>,
depending on where you want your texts (valign = vertical alignment)

Good luck,
Bob

Hi Brummygirl

Like your site  Smiley. Thats a lot of data to keep track of!

Well done.

I notice your quick search tip image doesn't show. Looking at the source it still refers to your own PC Desktop rather than the website (do these little changes ever finish? mine don't).

Cheers
