My G G G Grandfather was Joseph Harrison, born at Bishopthorpe circa 1831/1832. Can any one help me with parents names? And an address would be wonderful!!
I have a feeling that his father could have been James, and he was probably a shoemaker
Joseph and his wife Elizabeth (Horsman) certainly had three children at Bishopthorpe, before they moved to York, where he worked as a master shoe maker, for many, many years, at 65.Lower Priory Street. (certainly 1871- 1901)
Their names were Thomas born 1859/60 Ruth born 1858/59 Harry, my GG Grandad, born 11/5/1862
After there move to York, along came John 1864, George 1866, and Arthur 1868.
I know that Arthur died, aged three in 1871 and I think that Ruth also died, in her teens.
I am writing in so much detail, because I must admit, I am hoping there is some one else, researching this family, who are relations and can tell me what happened to my Grandad. Joseph Morris Harrison. I can find no record of his death, but my granmother remarried in 1938, stating she was a widow.
How ever, Joseph's parents names, and an address in Bishopthorpe would be wonderful.
Sorry for going on!!
