I see James was married to a Sophia in 1861: RG9/719 115 10
Midgham Berkshire
Hall Farm Cottages

James Wilkins, head, 38, Ag Lab Thrasher, b. Bucklebury Berks
Sophia, wife, 26, b. Surrey
Caroline, dau, 7, b. Midgham
Henry, son, 4, b. do.
Charles, son, 1, b. do.

On the 1871 census, the children are all dittoed named Portlock. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find anything that will help clearing if they are just Hannah's children. Can't find their births on freeBMD, nor a marriage for Hannah and James, and not a death for Sophia either... I can't see Sophia in 1871 either at first sight.

I think it should be interesting to search for William's birth on the complete index.

Hi
Just to let you know how I am getting on with this family.
Sophia Pearce died August 1, 1862 Bucklebury

Hannah married James in 1894 and he died in 1895
She had 7 children all with unknown father, I have all their birth certificates and no father mentioned, then she had 5 girls with James Wilkins and he is mentioned as father on the birth certificates
