Hiya Fiona,

It was in the Sexton Records  and very sad,

A little boy of 4years was buried and the charge was I think 4shillings, but it was crossed out.

It turned out that the hospital had removed his little head for 'research' and replaced it with a brick.

The family found out and there was some kind of riot and they had to bury him free of charge.

I may have not got this quite right, but there will be someone who has a better rentention than me who will put it right.

It was the only bit of the talk I did not enjoy

Hi

Jakky were you taking notes or have you just got a fantastic memory? I agree with the story but was it during the cholera epidemic or on another page?

Fiona,

The bit I remember too was that both the lad's two parents were both dead and that he was looked after by his grandfather. A real tragedy.  Embarrassed

Trystan was obviously giving it his attention, so Fiona that is the story,

Wasn't there also something about Grandpa being told he was recovering then turning up at the hospital to find he'd died?

Another question about the talk about the archives.  I was listening honestly.

I remember all about the multiple marriages at The Cathedral but was that the same for Baptisms and did the parents pay a fee for these too?

Thanks

Hi Wheeldon

He did not talk about multiple baptisms and did not mention if a fee was charged. I'm sure I would have remembered a font overflowing with babies!

what a great sounding day we must have one in the south of the country maybe in the Garden of England only problem is we have wine bars down here. A good place to hold it would be Bluewater retail park loads of bars restaurants and for those who like shopping a paradise  near transport links and motorways what a great location
