hi can anyone help me ,sorry but the info i have is very sketchy as i don't know where to look ,i will tell you all i know: an unknown Houldsworth was sent to Australia when he committed a crime of poaching. His wife who's maiden name was Shaw and their children applied to go there with him i know they had a child called Benjamin born c1850 The wife was born in Ilkeston Derbyshire but i suspect that the unknown Houldsworth was from Yorkshire (very common name from there) i am sorry that this is all i have maybe someone could help me to find out more about them .Thank you Rachie

Sorry its taking a while but it seems as if the name "Houldsworth" was probably shorted to Holdsworth or Howarth or Howorth. Tracing the name through the records is rather tedious.
There is a Howarth, Benjamin who arrived 1830 Florentia (2), sentenced Lancaster 1830. I can find a son, James, born in 1844 to him and his wife Sarah Clark. They were married in 1844 at the Church of England at Hunters Hill. Benjamin died (as far as I can see) in 1861 at Sydney aged 70. In 1855 there was an infant, Benjamin, who died. Unfortunately the record doesn't state who his parents were. James died in 1919 in Gundagai. Another possible son, Charles, died in 1922 at Bulli.
Taking a breather...
