Topic: Help needed - Simpson's - Victoria/Tasmania (Read 125 times)

Hi,
I am needing help to locate the deaths of my 2 GG Grandparents which I believe occurred in Victoria.
They were both convicts Charles Simpson (bootmaker)b.1821 Perth, Scotland and Hannah Wilson b.1827 place unknown.
They married 21/12/1846 Launceston Tasmania.
Their children are Henry Simpson 1847-1847
Hannah 1849-1878 she married William Thatcher in Victoria 1869
Charles James Simpson b.3/7/1851 Launceston, married twice 1871 & 1892 (fathered 15 children) and died Richmond, Victoria 22/5/1920
According to Charles James Simpson's death certificate he came to live in Victoria about 1859, as it states he resided 8yrs Tasmania, 60 yrs in Victoria.
Any help with locating Charles and Hannah Simpson's deaths or arrival info to Victoria from Tasmania about 1859 would be very much appreciated.

This is a possible for Charles
Charles SIMPSON died 1855 Victoria aged 33 Ref: 6144
Hannah Thatcher's death certificate may give a better indication of length of time in Victoria as she died early.
Do you have Charles J Simpson's marriage certificates, they normally indicate whether parents are deceased.

There is a death for Hannah Simpson on the AVRI
1855 Victoria parents Robert and Ann Graham - no age given.
There is also a Charles born in Scotland - died 1872 aged 60 - parents John and Elizabeth Somerville

Unfortunately that Hannah was only 9mths old when she died.
There is a marriage for a Hannah SIMPSON marrying David PILE in 1861.
She died in 1897 aged 59 Parents given as John TAYLOR and Hannah DANIELS. Age is out by 10 years
Will say David PILE's first wife was Elizabeth JENNINGS according to the children's births. But when she died her father was given as Dennis THATCHER.

Thanks Anne, I do have the permission to marry info and their marriage certificate.
Still puzzled how the family came to Victoria about 1859 as the children would have only been 8 and 10 yrs old. Have not been able to find any death info for either parent. Charles marriage cert in 1871 does not say they are deceased and his sister, then Hannah Thatcher is a witness.
May have to purchase sister Hannah's marriage cert in 1869 in the hope of getting some more clues.
