1871/1891 census look up please
« on: Thursday 29 September 05 12:24 BST (UK) »

Hi, can anyone help me please?  I am trying to find Alice Jane Bateson born 1866 in Canning Town Essex.  Father George Bateson. She married in 1882 to a David Warren in Essex.
She turns up again in 1894 in Canning Town Essex to have her daughter Annie, but by now she has become a widow & re-married to a John Rooney who is living in Barrow Lancashire.
Can anyone find her on the 1871 census please or the 1891 census.  Thanking you, Vicky Dowsell

Thank you so much for the information Smiley - so the plot thickens!  Huh
Why should she be using her maiden name, Bateson as she is in fact now Jane Warren.  I also find it very odd that she has no children, when in fact she married David Warren 9 years earlier.  Of cause David Warren could have died just after they were married, but there seems to be a real mystery surrounding my G.Grandmother.
What was she doing in Barrow in Furness, a widow, when she by all accounts was born, brought up, and married in Canning Town Essex.   Huh
Can anyone trace where she was in 1871 please. She was only 5 years old then, so I presume she was still living with her father George Bateson, I can't find any trace of them though.
Again many thanks loverlylegs, it's kind of you to take the trouble to find the information for me.
Vicky
