Burial - Bradbury 1911 Bouremth Cem.
« on: Thursday 29 September 05 17:16 UTC (UK) »

I am looking for information for the last remaining child of my g g grandfather, William Bradbury (@1815 Bedworth). His son, William I know died in 1930 in Bournemouth. However, this last William had a brother Edwin Thomas Bradbury who I can find nothing about since the 1871 census when the family had moved to Leicester. I do know Edwin T. had a son, also named Edwin T. and he, according to a funeral card I have, was interred in Bournemouth Cemetery (which I assume the only one in exisitance is in Bournemouth) on October 4, 1911. He died on Sept. 30th.

Edwin T. Sr., was born in 1856 in Bedworth, WAR. Edwin T. Jr., was born in 1875 in Leicester. These dates and the dates of Edwin Jr. death (plus a portrait of them both together, which must have been shortly before 1911, in Cardiff) are all that I know....other than the '61 and '71 censi for Ed Sr.

Also, they do not show on '81 or '91 census anywhere, nor in the FreeBMD or IGI.

I would appreciate any info anyone can offer regarding how I might get Edwin Jr. burial records to see if there is a last known address, witness...or whatever.

Thank you and Happy Hunting!

:)Jim...? It looks like Edwin's son (Edwin Jr)was born in 1883. But William also had a son Edwin which was the one born in 1875. Did you get mixed up or am i going quietly mad!!!I cannot make it anything other than what i already posted  Sad

best wishes     Cheryle.f (never wanted to be a detective anyway!!!) Cool

Cheryl -

Yes I had the info for the Leicester 1891 census...but had no idea about Edwin remarrying and in Northhamptonshire!

What I have found out since the original posting is that the "burial card" I have is actually for Edwin Sr's nephew, Edwin T. Bradbury...son of William Bradbury. It seems they both had sons named Edwin Thomas...William's born a 1875 and Edwin's born 1883...as you showed in the census. The card says Edwin T. died Sept 30, 1911 and was 36...so that is definitely William's E.T. Smiley And it makes sense as William was buried there as well as his obit says he retired there after his success inthe shoe industry in Leicester.

So, it seems that the Edwins moved around alot, compared to others in the family,  because as I mentioned in the original, I have a portrait of them together, from a Cardiff photographer, and it looks as though the younger Edwin may have been 35 or so...which would make the picture probably being taken @ 1920 or so.

Very interesting about Polly. I wonder if Ethel was her daughter of Deborah's.

Thanks for the new info!!

AHHHH.. Sorry...about that!  You are a great detective!  Not going mad:)!!

I find that that is what fun about this...though it can be maddening. Edwin and William had an older sister whose name was differant on each and every census, birth, and marriage record. When I saw her father's death certificate...it was her again...which prompted me to find out who this person was...cause the name was differant on his death certificate. Sounds confusing...it was...but once figured out...it all made sence. She had an Aunt with the same name that did the same thing. Her name went from Libery on her christening to Sibrey on the '41 Bedworth census to Eliza on her father's DC....and 4 -5 differant names (same theme) in between.

TWhoops...went off on tangent:)

Thanks again!!!!

You are too much:)!!

I have a picture of Edwin in a uniform. I have been by the picture hundreds of times (From an old trunk of photos my great grandfather brought with him from Leicester) and it wasn't till a month or so ago I recognized that it was Edwin. I tried blowing up pieces of the uniform to see if I could send to someone to tell me what the uniform was for...but couldn't get enuf detail.

This 'splains it:)!

So, I wonder if he was in the Boar War. I know someone in my family was.   Iwas told it was my Great grandfather...but couldn;t have been as he came here in 1883.

I will have to see if I can find a place for war records.

One question, this was on the 1901 Staffordshire census...as was all the information. ....Oh I understand...this was the military base he was at in Staffordshire!   Thanks again!!!!  Grin

Thank you very much, Cheryle!!!!
