Hi Robyn, could you let me know any dates & names you have for Daniels in/around Shenley? The earliest ancestor Ive found is Thomas Daniel & Judith Stears married 1803 (Thomas' 1st wife was Susanah Rudkins, who died of smallpox). Im also searching for John Daniel/Danyell (son of Abraham) born 1597 in nearby Whaddon who married Katherign Perce. A link to these Daniels' and the landed Danyers family of Cheshire is possible, as Agnes Daniels/Danyell (Danyers) from this family had a son christened in Whaddon (John Batt b.1597)http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~silversmiths/11/4949.htm

Many thanks
Ian

Hi Ian

Great to hear from you. My husband is also from the same lineage as you.
Have you seen the website www.daniellsfamily.co.uk.
This has the entire tree on it.
My husband Marcus comes down through Thomas, Joseph, Andrew, Archibald, Leslie, Leslie Stewart (his father).
I have not been able to go any further back. It is difficult as I am in NZ and only obtain what the internet can get me. Mind you I havent tried much.
Please let me know what your line is.
Thanks
Robyn

Thanks Robyn, thats interesting, your husband & I have a common forefather, im also decended from Thomas and his son Joseph, but my great great grandfather was William, brother of Andrew. I have listed earlier Daniels found in Whaddon church records (just up the road from Shenley & Woolstone, where Thomas was married). A feasible line can be traced from Thomas, but all theses need to be researched fully.

Margret married Richard Billington m.1606
.
Abraham Danyell
.
Thomas son of Abraham b.1595
John son of Abraham b.1597
William son of Abraham b.1600
Arthur son of Abraham b.1600
Abraham son of Abraham b.1604
Henry son of Abraham b.1607
.
Sara dau of Thomas b.1627
.
John married Katherign Perce m.1631 (L.Woolstone)
.
Abraham son of John b.1632
John son of John & Katherign b.1634
William son of John & Katherign b.1637
Susanna dau of John & Katherign b.1640
Roger son of John & Katherign b.1642
.
Thomas son of John & Sarah b.1664 (L.Woolstone)
.
Susan dau Roger b.1672
Roger son of Roger b.1676
Richard son of Roger b.1678
.
Thomas son of John b.1680
Mary dau of John b.1684
William son of John b.1686
.
Mary married Henry Bent m.1704
.
Samual married Sarah Gilbert m.1727 (Shenley)
.
William son of William & Alice b.1729
Thomas son of William & Alice b.1743
.
William married Elizabeth Matthews m.1754
.
Thomas married Mary m.1760 (L.Woolstone)
.
William son of William & Elizabeth b.1760
Thomas son of William & Elizabeth b.1762
.
Thomas son of Thomas & Mary b.1775
.
Thomas married Susannah Rudkins m.1787 (L.Woolstone)
.
Thomas married Judith Stears m.1803 (Loughton)

Also my brother had our particular Daniels dna tested, some results are at- http://www.geocities.com/lee_daniels_uk/

The latest findings are that the Daniels of Shenley are R1b type which is brythonic Celtic (as in Welsh, Cornish & Pictish, rather than Gaelic) with lots of dna matches in scotland and along the Rhine, this points towards early celtic settlers, maybe originally of La Tene culture?
I think with the 25 marker matches in Shetland and Scotland, the 12 marker plot showing high matches in Shetland and Scotland, and that this particular area in Scotland is the only known area where DYS391=10 is in greater frequency than DYS391=11 in europe, shows a defintate link to this area.
What's interesting is that it's very local and confined in area, unlike the Irish type DNA. This seems to signify that our DNA is a remnent of a very early Celtic migration. It's also interesting to note that our DNA is the only type of R1b to be found in Russia and Native Siberians, which is the place that all 'R' type DNA originally came from before the Celtic culture developed. Where our DNA matches arte highest is actually the area of Scotland that the Picts were squeezed into by the invading Scotti (irish).

Another discovery is a link to the D'Anyers family, this name is also believed to be where some of the Danyells/Daniels name originated, from Angers (soft g) in France, which has an ancient Celtic history.

hope this all makes sense
wishes
Ian

Hi Ian
I have done a lot of sleuthing today and I can find most of the Daniels line except for Abraham.
I did find that Agnes (who married Richard Batt, and had a son John) also had a sister called Margaret (c) 1590. Do you think that this would be the Margaret who married Richard Billington in Waddon  in 1606. This would have made her only 16 but I guess it could be her. This is the only link I could find.

Let me know what you think.
Cheers

Hi Robyn
Thanks for the info on Margaret Daniels, ill see what I can find about her, she could well be the same one who married Richard Billington. All I have on Abraham is his record in the IGI. His of the same generation to be brother of Agnes & Margaret, but its just speculation at the moment.  Did u find anything more on John Danyell & Katherine Perce (Pierce) from Little Woolstone? Im planning a visit to the record offce in Buckinghamshire soon, so ill let u know if I discover anything more
many thanks
Ian
Do u have any webpage links to Margaret or others youve found?
