In 1851 Sarah WESTALL, widow aged 47 born Newbury, was at Drapers Yard, Thatcham Chapelry of Greenham. Could some kind soul please check her whereabouts in 1861 as I can't find her in indexes to '71 or '81 and I've not found a re-marriage or death registration.
I have had a real good try at this and I can't find her - there are no female Westalls born 1803-1806 in Newbury and no Sarahs born 1803-1806 that look likly to be her - unless she remarried and moved to London
Have you checked the GRO indexes to deaths or just Free BMD for her burial - cos the latter is not complete

Debbie, many thanks for your efforts on my behalf.
I've collected Westall entries for BMDs myself from St Catherine's indexes for years. I have not extracted all, but the nearest death registration I found was: Sarah WESTALL aged 68 3Q1870 ref Faringdon 2c 171.
It's possible she gave a different birthplace in Berkshire in 1861: several of my Hampshire people did, and led me to their actual place of baptism. I've often wondered if the Enumerators asked different questions that year?
Eureka! Sarah WESTALL joined daughter Mary Ann CANNING in Pottawattamie Co., Iowa, where she features in the Iowa State Census of 1856.
Anyone with ancestors missing from the Newbury area in 1851/1861 period is advised to check whether they embarked on the LDS trail to Salt Lake City, Utah.
