Here is Thomas & family in 1901 - though MAry Ann appears to have left home - she may be married by now They are still at 20 Swansea Road - and all escept for Harriet the mother are working as labourers in the biscuit factory

The biscuit factory would almost certainly have been Palmer's, later Huntley and Palmer one of the town's major employers which became part of United Biscuits. It finally abandoned Reading in the 1980s and its main site was taken over by the new Prudential Building.
