Re: Prisoners of War - Reading Matter

I have recently read a book by Howard Reid called Dad's War.

The book is the author's personal trip to Italy following in his  father's (Ian Reid)  footsteps based upon a diary & journal kept by his father during the Second World War.

Ian Reid was in a Prisoner of War camp in Italy. He escaped (and was recaptured several times), but was supported and protected by many  Italians, during what was a very difficult and insecure time. - The book is excellent for descriptive details of rural Italy during this time.

Having enjoyed Howard Reid's book I have obtained a copy of  his father's original book which was published in 1947.

Prisoner at Large by Ian Reid published Futura 1947
ISBN - 0 8600 7360 2

Dad's War by Howard Reid published Bantam Books
ISBN - 0 553 81554 7
