Hello,

I have just discovered that my 3x great grandfather, John McDonald claimed to have born in Thurso Caithness in approx 1815. This information came from the birth cert ofone of his sons  in 1855.  Can someone confirm this for me please.
He married Ann Maria Mosley of Hull in Hull in 1846.

Since you list HARMER as one of the families you are tracing, I deduce you descend from Katherine Emily Elphinsetone McDonald who married Robert Harmer in 1908 and had 9 children, of whom I know the descendency of one, Grace Winifred Harmer b. 1911.
