Marriage Certificate
« on: Tuesday 17 August 04 10:46 UTC (UK) »

I have a quick question please, as I'm not located in England, can someone advise me on how to order a Marriage Certificate for a marriage in Wellow, Nottingham from 1814?

Also, whilst on the subject.  Exactly what information do the marriage certificates contain, eg. names of parents on both sides, dates of birth?

Please excuse my lack of knowledge, I am only familiar with the Australian certificates at this early stage of my research.

Hi,

There's a similar question and answer on this thread http://www.rootschat.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=9344.0

As you are looking at pre civil registration, the parish register marriage entry will include names and occupations of the bride and groom and names of witnesses.  Have a look at this site for an example http://www.jaydax.co.uk/genlinks/registers.html
