Thanks. Did you check the 1851 census? I think he will be married to Betsey/Elizabeth by then with a son John, maybe in Mansfield or Hyson Green.

Hi Jane, i did check the 1851 Mansfield and Mansfield Woodhouse for Richard. Is it John who you think will be married by then ? I'll check for him and search the rest of the census for Richard.
Steve.

Hi Steve and Heather
Thanks for all the info.
Goose fair used to be great, I used to like the Grantham Gingerbreads and the hot dogs. The waltzers, dodgems and the big wheel. We used to go straight after school as it was near the forest. I think I could just about manage the gingerbreads and the big wheel now, but there is a lot of trouble now so Ilkeston Fair is safer, 2 weeks later.
It is Johns marriage that I have asked about before and cannot find. A relative that I met on GR has given me the marriage John Comery & Betsey Hurst. Betsey was born 1819 and they had a child 1844 so I have looked for the marriage 1833 - 1846, first of all in Mansfield where they lived when the child was born and John and Betsey both lived before the marriage and then looked in Notts then anywhere and everywhere. Colin, the relative, hasn't given me a reference or a date but seems certain about the names. I can't find John married to any other Elizabeth either in that date range. Any ideas because it is half way up my tree, a vital link and it is driving me mad.
Jane
