Butlin and Basely families in Beds.
« on: Thursday 06 October 05 12:39 BST (UK) »

I have recently discovered a census record for one of my ancestors Thomas Butlin in 1861 in the Southwark area of  London . This states he came from Beds and would have been born around 1792. He was married to a Jane some 10 years older than himself. Looking at the I.G.I he could have come from Battlesden and be the son of a Thomas  Butlin and Elizabeth Basely.I know this all has to be checked but looking at family christian names at a later date it does seem possible. I wonder if anyone can find out anything about this family for me please.

Hi Ringrose

Have you tried appealing on the 1851 and 1841 census look up boards. There are loads of very kind people who will try and trace back further for you.  Sometimes one census info isnt enough - for instance the actual census employee might get things wrong or the actual transciber of the census (internet) may not be able to read the handwriting!

Good luck in your search!

P s R U related to the hoilday Firm 'Butlins'?

Cheers

Sorry for delay in replying but I have only just found your message. I am not related to any famous Butlins.
