Like all the UK-BMD County sites, this site is being continually updated.

The "County" sites do a newsletter, with update information, which I will add below ......

"Subscribe to GEN-UKBMD at
http://www.british-genealogy.com/mailman/listinfo/gen-ukbmd for news of the latest additions to UKBMD sites."

Just came in the latest newsletter:

All,
On the Cheshire BMD web site is the first version of a change to the marriage search software.

I'd like your feedback on the changes before I place the same updates to the software on to the other BMD sites.

The change is best illustrated by example: on the Cheshire BMD site, www.cheshirebmd.org.uk , click on marriages, and then on the certificate to take you to the search page, then select 1841 as the year and SEDDON as the surname. The changes should be obvious in the results.

I'm deliberately not saying too much here as my first aim is to find out if the text and explanations are sufficient.

Hope you find this useful.

regards,
Ian Hartas

The big difference is:
Where the first surname is a web link followed by an asterisk (*), it signifies that the database has alternative entries in the database for this reference number. Click on the surname to display the full list of alternatives and an explanation of why this occurs

looks good to me, try it out !

The number of entries in the database has now passed the 4 million mark,
and we would like to take this opportunity once again to thank all our

Always good to be reminded from time to time about these great resources and to acknowledge the time and effort invested by the many volunteers. From one who has benefited I do say a hearty Thank You.

But why, oh why, could they not do some of those problematic periods of the 1860's where so many of us are stuck, before some of the more modern items.

Cheshire BMD is a separate project from Free BMD, and already has thorough coverage of the 1860's for the county.
