Old transport company called the BRAKES.
« on: Thursday 19 August 04 05:55 UTC (UK) »

Has anyone ever heard of a transport company called the Brakes.I beleive my great grandad was involved in it somehow.I think my grandad and a couple of his brothers was also involved in the running of it.or even owned it. so one of my aunts said.I think it would have been in the early 1900.
It was a four horse driven carriage that ran between Coseley and Bilston.Held eight people, plus driver or drivers.I was also told that my great grandad owned a row of houses along Canal street,in Coseley.Anyway of finding out.
They say his sons occupied a couple of the houses.
If i can find out something it may lead to his birth.
Anything is worth a try.

Sylvia,

Just spotted this unanswered query.  Sorry.

So I am going to move it to Staffordshire where it will be seen by researchers with knowledge of the area.

Hi Sylvia,
I have a "cousin" by marriage who has BRAKES on her family tree and who would, I feel sure, exchange information with you.  She has quite a large data base and shares it as a GOON.

If you're interested, please contact me off list and I will pass on her details.

[u]Hi Kayeepee.
  Thanks for your reply.
I dont have much detail regarding the company called the Brakes.I am not even sure if that is how it was spelt. I got this info from an old letter written to my cousin.

I did think of getting in touch with the black country bugle in Staffordshire to see if any of their readers could shed some light on it.If you think your cousin would have a little info i would sure appreciate any help from her.
                                 Thanks again for your reply
