Still looking for the elusive Garfields

Can anyone help please
I'm looking for the birth of William NEWTON about 1793-5 in Westoe, Durham

All Census records except the 1871 give his birthplace as Newcastle on Tyne. The 1871 gives him as aged 78 born Westoe, Durham.

I am more inclined to believe this census as it also gives the correct birthplace for his wife Ruth as Heworth, Co Durham...she also has Newcastle on all the other  census.
