Durham City Boys' Senior School 1930's
« on: Tuesday 18 October 05 15:17 BST (UK) »

Hello everyone

I wonder if anyone knows where the above school was located?
Do any pictures of it exist?  Indeed does IT still exist - at least as a building if not a school.

My Dad attended there in the 1930's. I have school reports for 1934,35,36 and also a yearbook for 1933/34.  The book gives lots of information about the curriculum and names the staff and even states what the previous years' leavers went on to do but unfortunately there is no clue as to location.

Incidentally if anyone thinks they may have a connection with the school at this period I'll be happy to look through the yearbook for relevant names.

Hi
I am sure the record office in Durham will be able to help you.  They probably have other records pertaining to the school too.  Aren't you lucky to have such a gem?

Yes Andrea
I believe that I am lucky.  The book, though only paper covered and in a sorry state, is an interesting snippet of social history.  I just wish I had known of it while my Dad was still around to talk about it.  It's only when you start this family history lark that you realise how little you know about your parents! Sad
