I am trying to confirm the birth of Lawrence German of the Parish of St. Andrew's, Whittlesea in approximately 1775. I would also love to know the names of his parents and if there are any other siblings listed in the parish records.
Many thanks!

Hi again, Joanna, If no-one finds the info and sends it to you before next week, I'll have a look for circa 1775 and your man Lawrence GERMAN in those Whittlesea records when I visit the CCRO again. With a fairly narrow time-frame, I should be able to track him down if he's there amongst all those GERMAN's, GERMANE's and GERMAINE's... very best wishes, keith

Hi again, J., This will be my last posting tonight before I go to bed, though I have a few people still to contact after a busy few hours at the CCRO today. I might have misled you slightly with last week's info, as when I looked in the Whittlesea St Andrew (1602-1851) Parish transcripts the earliest GERMAN and variants entry was 1823 for marriages, 1828 for burials, and 1849 for baptisms. So I turned to the Whittlesea St. Mary's registers, where the first GERMAN entry was 1624. There were no GERMAN baptisms between 20-05-1741: Ann GERMAN d. of Lawrence and Mary, and 13-01-1801: Elizabeth GERMAN d. of John and Mary. However, there are 4 marriages, the third of which I feel might be significant to you. They are: 31-01-1792: Frances GERMAN sp. o.t.p. to John GATES of Peterborough bac. by licence Witness John German 23-06-1795: John GERMAN bac. o.t.p. to Mary BACON sp. of Thorney by licence 01-10-1795: Lawrence GERMAN widower o.t.p. to Hannah NIGHTINGALE of Benwick by licence 13-10-1796: Ann GERMAN sp. to Richard GRANTHAM bac. b.o.t.p. by licence The next GERMAN marriage is not until 1836, and as it's getting a bit too late now, I'll give you those details tomorrow, probably by PM... Keith
