Hi Lesanne & Annie, Can you rescan the window pane with the face at a far greater resolution. The small picture is only 12k in size & also cuts off some of the hair etc. In aniticipation. Tomkin.

Sorry Tomkin!

Hi all,
What tomkin means is can you scan the photo again, but only that little bit?
If you do a preview scan (most scanners do this) then you can see the photo on screen, and with a selection tool, you can draw a box around the bit that you want. Once you've done that, find where you change the scanning resolution (it will be in a menu somewhere) and change the resolution to maybe 600 or 800 dpi (tomkin, you may have a different idea about what res would be best!).
Then, just scan it, and the little bit you chose will be the only bit the computer scans! It will be a larger picture and a larger file size than the little one that's currently on the board.
Did that help?
Prue

Hi Annie, Lesanne & Prue, Annie I can't believe that you haven't got a scanner.I thought i was the only one working with ancient equipment & I have got one.Drop broad hints at xmas. ( Nooo! I'm not going to buy you one) Prue, I was just trying to compose a method that would explain ( it could have taken a long time) when you did it brilliantly. It all depends on the quality of the original. I would do exactly as you said. first at 150d.p.i. then save it to file, naming it scan 1. Then do it again at 300d.p.i and save as scan 2.Repeat at 450 d.p.i & 600 d.pi.. Open all 4 in your photo software and see which gives the best result( or post all 4 and let us see.) Anyway Russell Crowe is just about to kill the baddie Emperor, So ta ta for now. Tomkin.

Lordy Tomkin!
Thank goodness you didn't tell Lesanne that - she would have lost it I'm talking up a storm for a scanner - but nobody's listening Enjoy Russell Crow!!!
