Hi
The Annis you found is my GG Grandmother, the Annis that came from the USA I think is most likely the daughter of Edward Dufty, who was Josephs older brother.
Edward emigrated sometime between 1851 and the late 1860's.
The old journal does not give any age etc of Annis, which really does make this a hard one to sort out, unless I can find the passenger list for 1871.
Thanks for your time, it is much appreciated.
Nicky

There are no outbound passenger lists. There are British inbound lists, but they are not indexed or microfilmed.
The records for all these ship passengers travelling between 1890 and 1960 survives within the collection of original British Board of Trade passenger lists. The only place they can be seen is at the Public Record Office in Kew, England.
These lists are not filmed, not indexed and they are not available on-line.
See http://www.passengerlists.co.uk/ for more help
WOuld it help you to find Edward's immigration to USA? If all you need right now is Annis' age, that could be found on census records (if the family was in USA for 1860 for example) or the passenger list of their arrival.
Once you know your ancestor's state of entry, you can search microfilms. Most states (ports of arrival) are indexed, so this will make your job slightly easier. You can order films in to a nearby Family History Centre, or have NARA do the job (once you have precise details)
Once you know your state, you can get a list of film numbers (NARA & FHC) at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/nara_indexbyport.shtml
Scroll down to the state you want and click on the link, then find the film # you need
Do you know where they settled? Or Edwards dob or place of birth? I could have a look for you but I might need a bit more detail.

Gloucestershire The Bristol Times And Mirror 1897-09-03
SAD FATALITY AT CARDIFF. Early yesterday morning a shocking accident occurred at the top of Wellfieldroad, Cardiff, on the site of a chapel in course of erection, resulting in the instantaneous death of one man and serious injuries to another. Between seven and eight o'clock George Walters, of No. 9, Diamond-street, Roath, and Alfred Dufty, of No. 8, Ordell-strcet, were employed in taking out the foundation for the chapel, when an adjoining wall collapsed, and buried the men underneath it. When extricated, Walters was- found to be dead, and Dufty received serious internal injuries, which necessitated his removal to the Infirmary, where he was attended to bv Dr. Wood and detained.
Good luck
Thelma
