Trying to find a marine's history
« on: Saturday 21 June 14 23:54 BST (UK) »
I have recently learned that we have the service number of a member of the family.
S F Butler 1907-1983 was a marine in ww2, RME 15423.
How can I trace his service history?

Cheers

Sounds like he was a Royal Marine Engineers.

Yes, he was an engineer, joiner by trade.
His son's would love to see the records, shame its only his wife or parents who are eligible for it free - ah well, it will be worth it.
Thanks so much for your help.
