Ive looked closely at the photos, - and Im quite sure my father, myself and my sister are in one, the one with a man and six children. He didnt own all the kids, - I have ordered a print to see it better, - but what a find if it is!

I'm delighted that  'Myluck' found the link and that you enjoyed seeing the photos and then to find that photo.Great result for you.It certainly was a  great community in times past, I would also recognise a lot of the surnames listed on both census.I'll bet you remember the expression 'Flag alley' too.

Thank you soooo much for that RTE link, - its terrific, - memory lane for me.

I did see the references in the Census, and actually knew one person listed in the Census at 9 years of age who was an old lady when I was a kid.

Willie

Hi Willie,

I have lots of family connections to Sarah Place and Islandbridge since 1875. Would there be any chance that your name might be Bailham and not Baneham. Who is the lady you remember from the census? There is a dearth of photographs on-line for Sarah Place, however I can share what family photos I have if they may be of interest to you.

Cheers

Paul

My grandparents John and Catherine Brady were listed as resident in Sarah Place in the 1911 census. My grandfather was ex RIC and I am trying to find the date of either of their deaths in order to locate their graves. I have requested cessation of pension date from Records Office Kew but so far unavailable. Any help would be appreciated.

Here are John & Catherine in the 1911 census-

Have you searched the online civil registration index for their deaths? (goes up to 1958)

Hotlips

in your research about your grandparents may I question your details
are you sure they are the couple that lived in Sarah Place in 1911?
There is no reference to the RIC on this record which is often made

if not, are you sure that John BRADY was ex-RIC?

If you are not 100% sure that the Sarah Place couple are correct, have you looked at this family
John, Catherine and BRADY family on 1901 census at 1.6 in Upper Dorset Street (Rotunda, Dublin)

Catherine BRADY and four children on 1911 census at 5 in Allen Terrace (Arran Quay, Dublin)
The names of the children should correspond to your parent, aunts and uncles if correct.

This John BRADY ex RIC died Nov 29 1906 with a possible burial in Glasnevin
Catherine BRADY nee DEVEREUX died Dec 28 1916 also with a possible burial in Glasnevin

Apologies if a complete red herring

Thank you very much Aghadowey and My Luck .
The Sarah Place search appears to be incorrect but I was always told it was correct and that my uncle Patrick inherited ownership of property there and that it had a nickname  (Bradys Brass Castle).
I am puzzled about this but the Allen Terrace and Upper Dorset Street appear to be correct.
Unfortunately Glasnevin records didn't throw up any information.
Thanks again.
