Kennedy / Hingerty
« on: Friday 28 February 14 04:46 GMT (UK) »
Seeking any family information, ancestors/descendants, of John Kennedy (b1789) and Johanna Hingerty (b1814). I believe they lived in Tipperary and were married there around 1831 before emigrating to Australia in the late 1830's.
They had some children in Tipperary and many more when they settled in Victoria.

Hi Roy
Thank you for your response, but at this stage I don't think there is any connection. I will keep this note on file in case something pops up.
Our Kennedy mob settled further north than Avoca up around the Benalla district.
Regards
Brian

Hi, I have recently got stuck into our family tree and John and Johanna are my gg grandparents. I too have hit a brick wall as I am unable to track their passageway into Australia or locate source documents of their marriage in Ireland. They lived and died in the Benalla area of Victoria, Australia. John DOB doesn’t add up though per the headstone dates.

Their headstone is available here - https://www.benallacemetery.com/cemetery/record/4585/roman-catholic/john-kennedy

It was 6 years ago when you posted you query, so I hope that you have gained further information that you would be happy to share :)

Hi,
beem45
You say in the John and Johanna posts.
Some children were born in Ireland before they went to Australia.
Have you got the names of the children and approx. year of birth.

Roy Ryan, if you are still getting posts, I know your family as they are mine.
John (deceased) in Ashmore I am in touch with his wife. I sent them loads of information.
Also another brother to the family, I knew they went to NZ and had info about them, but it was only last year I was contacted by the Borrisokane Heritage Group to help. What I knew was what they knew, I updated them with a lot more info.

Hingerty….two males in 1826 a John Hingerty in Kilfithmone, this is near Borrisoleigh.
Hingerty……  1826   James in Townfields Modreeny, near to Borrisokane.

Let me know the children's names and ages please.

Hi, I know this is old now. But I think this is my family.
In our family tree this is the name of my great-great-great grandparents. They had a child also named John who moved to Australia.

What info do you need?
