Where is Malavogue, Cork?
« on: Friday 23 January 09 12:54 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

Could anyone tell me if there is/was such a place as Malavogue, in County Cork?  I can't find it on any modern maps, although I have found a reference to it in a Google Book as being near Crookhaven, Cork.

Kind Regards

Sal  :)

Probably Mallavoge in Kilmoe Parish, Skull Poor Law Union (Crookhaven is in the same area).
See www.thecore.com/seanruad to search for townlands and parishes in Ireland (be sure to change default setting from exact match to find part of a word).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Malavogue is the townland which contains Brow Head, the most southerly point in Ireland (mainland). It now contains three holiday homes but no longterm residents.  The last family left in the 1950s.  I'm looking at it as I write.  Who are you tracing Salamander?
