Hard luck you can sometimes get a free look-up if you ask for a specific cemetery and give name, date of death etc. The older burial records are at the Liverpool Record Office more recent available via Cemeteries service. Cemeteries service also charge for a search. For an 1893 burial you would have to look to the records at Liverpool Record Office. I'm surprised the "Friends" haven't got back to you though they could have checked their records.

Yes that makes sense the cemeteries don't have the older records so you would need to get the information from the Liverpool Record Office.

I got a message and thought I should post part of it as it provided me with the answer I've been looking for! 

James Plimmer buried on 21st October 1893 in Unconsecrated ground, Section 4, grave 1264 (from West Derby Cemetery Burial Register)

I am so delighted to have been sent this information - thank you to the angel who sent it
