PATTINSON Fatfield
« on: Tuesday 26 February 13 08:07 GMT (UK) »
My 3rd great grandparents Robert Pattinson and Isabella, nee Emmerson can be found in Fatfield, Durham in 1841:
Robt Pattison 30
Isabella Pattison 26
Jno Pattison 8
Emmerson Pattison 2
Ann Pattison 9 Mo

Then in 1851 they are at Fatfield:
Robert Pattinson 40
Isabella Pattinson 36
John Pattinson 18
Emmerson Pattinson 12
Ann Pattinson 10
Robert Pattinson 6
Sarah Pattinson 8
Francis Pattinson 4
Richard Pattinson 2
John Pattinson 37  (brother)

Then there is this family in 1851 who I believe may be Robert’s parents (they are on the following page of the census in Fatfield):
John  Pattison,  62,  head
Ellen  Pattison,  60, wife
Mary  Pattison,  29, daughter
Joseph  Pattison,  18, son
Margret Pattison,  1, grand daughter

On the same page are who I believe are Isabella’s (wife of Robert) parents:
John Emmerson, 63,  Head
Ann Emmerson, 64,  Wife

I can’t find John or Ellen Pattinson/Pattison or any of the family members that appear in 1851 in 1861 or further.  In 1841, they have another son, George b 1828 and a daughter, Margaret b 1816 with them.  Admittedly, John and Ellen may have died by 1861.

Can anyone help try and sort these families out?  John and Ann Emmerson, I am sure, are Isabella’s parents as I have her baptism in 1814 in Washington, Durham.  Robert’s parents, I am not so sure of.  I am particulary interested in finding out the parents and any other siblings of Robert Pattinson, born abt 1811.

Part of the puzzle;
1851 Census Ann Emmerson is born c 1787 Lamsley, Durham.

Marriage;

Wow, Trish. Thanks so much for this. That helps fill in a few more details for the Emmerson family. And the Thompson family - I didn't know about them at all!

I am still on the trail of these families.   Any information would be appreciated.

I no longer have access to census details.

Thanks
Shelley

Hi
I was studying the Humble family in Birtley and found information in the will of George Humble (coal owner), who appointed his Grandson, a John Emmerson in 1767 to be Staithman at Fatfield, in the place of his late father, another John Emmerson.
